We recently came in and tried the motherland and goldenbowl. We came because we heard plenty of good things from locals and the Michelin awards. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Spices on the chicken were good, just didn't exceed expectations . The cost was a bit high, considering its just chicken, rice, and vegetables. Two bowls, and no drinks came to $55 It's mostly self service, minus the staff bringing the tray to your table. Staff wasn't very helpful with guidance and they let you know to walk the trash over the designated area. I wouldn't have tipped had I know these things. Happy to see variety in the restaurant world, just expected a bit more.

Once you get over the bit of a struggle of valet parking your car, you are greeted with a warm smile outside and taken inside, where the vibe is perfect! The staff is lovely, and the chef walks around asking how your dining experience is. You just can't say anything more than WOW... it is amazing! The suya is so flavorful! Having never had it before, I was WOWED.. spicy but not spicy, perfect! The suya and cheese pies are really tasty! The scotch deviled egg is really great, though I won't lie, I would love it to be a traditional scotch egg vs a deviled egg. Auntie Maawa's curry plate with meat was so good! The rice was super nutty, the plantains cooked perfectly, and the meat was amazing. I could eat it 10X over. The highlight, though, is the plantain cake. I was sad we shared just one piece. There is only one dessert on the menu, and let me assure you, none else is needed. Having this be my first experience with West African food.. wow.. I will be trying more!! Can't wait to return.

I absolutely loved my experience at ChopnBlok. From the moment I walked in, everything about the space felt like home—the warmth, the energy, the music, the decor, the people. The ambiance alone is an experience: vibrant, intentional, and full of life, with a beautiful celebration of West African culture woven into every detail. The West African cuisine was phenomenal—rich, flavorful, comforting, and made with so much care. Every bite felt soulful and nourishing, the kind of food that feeds more than just your appetite. You can truly taste the pride and tradition behind it. The service was outstanding—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. It wasn’t just great customer service; it felt like community. Add that to the incredible vibe and thoughtfully designed space, and it made the entire experience unforgettable. ChopnBlok isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a feeling, a gathering place, a celebration. I would absolutely go back and recommend it without hesitation. If you’re looking for amazing food, beautiful energy, and a space that feels like home, this is it. 💜🔥

Soooo good! Greens and Tings was amazing! The steak was cooked to perfection. The flavors in this dish were thoughtful in every way possible. The house plantain bread was amazing! Who knew?!

This was my first time trying African food, and I was honestly surprised by how good it was. The flavors were amazing. It was a little pricey, but the quality and taste made it worth it. I can’t wait to visit the actual restaurant and try more dishes.
