I was charged $32 and change for this. The Jollof rice was dry, and had some hard grains in it which was uncomfortable to eat. I also ordered meat pie on the side and not only was it salty but it was also burnt, I didn’t realize until I was home. If you’re going to call yourself “taste of Nigeria” please make sure you are representing Nigerian cuisine well. On a positive note, the lady that took my order was pleasant.
Such an incredible place and the food was delicious!!!! People were extremely helpful and didn't kill me because of a seafood allergy. Would absolutely not hesitate to come back here. The jollof rice and beef pie was 🤤 yuuuuummmyyy! AZ would love you 😉
For my first experience trying Nigerian food, Taste of Nigeria was amazing. The jollof rice paired with plantains, vegetables, and chicken was chef’s kiss. Esther was a delight—she took the time to explain the menu and help educate me on the different flavors. I never felt rushed and truly enjoyed exploring the variety of Nigerian cuisine. I’ll definitely be back again!
Good food and nice atmosphere, with a couple of drawbacks. I ordered the egusi soup with pounded yam, rice and stew, and beef meat pies. The Food: The egusi soup on its own was good, but the assorted meat had a burnt aftertaste. Unfortunately, the stew had that same burnt flavor as well. On a brighter note, the beef meat pies were DELICIOUS...easily some of the best I’ve had in a while! However, they felt overpriced at $6 each, especially compared to the usual $2.50–$3 range at other Nigerian spots in th3 West Houston area. Service & Atmosphere: The atmosphere was great, and they had the World Cup playing on the big screen while I waited. The young lady who helped me was soft-spoken but pleasant. I also really appreciated receiving a text notification as soon as my order was ready for pickup! Overall, decent food and good vibes, though a bit pricey for certain items.

The service was top-tier—welcoming and attentive—and the food came out right on time, piping hot and fresh. You can tell they take pride in their craft. I ordered the Jollof rice, and it had that perfect, smoky depth of flavor that you just can't find everywhere. It was rich, perfectly spiced, and felt like a true taste of home. We also sampled a few other staples, and everything was incredibly balanced and flavorful. It is refreshing to find a spot that treats these traditional recipes with such respect, from the seasoning of the stews to the quality of the ingredients. Whether you’re a long-time fan of Nigerian cuisine or someone looking to try something new, this is the place to go. I’ve already decided I’ll be back—I’d recommend this place a hundred times over!
