Horrible experience. Been to the place twice on two separate occasions. First time it was a bit busy and the bartender gave us a weird look so we left. On my second time, I went to see the last 20 minutes of a soccer match. The bartender did not greet me, talked to me like I was a teenager, I asked for recommendations and she replied with “I mean we have nothing special it’s just whatever.” I have no clue why I did not leave after hearing that but I decided to get a drink, and the bartender poured it into a plastic cup while everyone else had a glass. When I politely asked for water, the bartender had a look on her face and told me that I can get it myself. I tried to get an Irish Coffee and the bartender replied with “Ugh that means I have to brew it.” The bartender was also talking negatively about her coworkers to someone. There was nothing but tension at that place. The vibes overall were not there at all as well. Extremely underwhelming and a bit depressing. One of the worst pub experiences I had ever had.
Shay McElroy’s is one of the best spots downtown for an affordable drink in a cool, laid-back bar. It has that old pub feel that gives it a lot of character, and the location is perfect if you’re already out around downtown. Great place to stop in, grab a drink, and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere.
Traditional Irish pub. Friendly service staff. Quiet and low key enough to easily have conversation over drinks.
The three glasses of Guinness were cold and spot on after the Rockets win. I am clearly the most interesting thing you could encounter here tonight, so if you are the type who appreciates a good time, I am open to a conversation with someone worth my energy.
Just wanted a chill place to have a few cigars while passing through on business. What I got on top of that was a group of the most friendly local regulars who were quite welcoming to a stranger just passing through.
