I've been going here since I was a baby with my parents. All the dishes are good, but the best thing about Demeris is their in-house made BBQ sauce. You can even buy the sauce by the pint, quart or gallon. They also do catering and I've used them on occasion as well. Great group of people.

Please let me start by saying I love this place and have raved about there food to anybody that asks me. They also had cousins that used to have a bar be cue place that was just as good. Wondering about the one star. Well today just did me in, there is an older african american woman that's usually there any day that I have gone. She can be harsh at times and I have seen her do it to other people. However she did it to me today. I had discussed with my daughter in the car she could eat here are some where else but she was not going to be eating at both places. When my daughter started off with but can i have some of your I told her to make a decision. I told her a couple more times when the aformentioned woman at the counter instructed me not to fuss at my daughter. My response was excuse me. to which the woman doubled down and repeated herself. I told her were we not even discussing the food but something for later. That's when i promptly headed for the door. I was so upset i sat in my car and cried for a min. how dare you talk to me like that when I'm fixing to drop at least 20 plus dollars on my meal in here. i thought about going back in but what for what good would it do. When she noticed we were headed for the door she didn't even try to apologize. They usually don't have that many people in there you would think that they would stive to be nice to the ones they do have. There is another place right down the street that had an abundance of customers called Pinkerton's Barbecue maybe that should be the place to stop. Looking forward to hear from management if they actually care about there customers.

Food: 2.5 stars Service: 2 stars Atmosphere: 5 stars A surly elderly woman at the front counter greeted me with a scowl and made me feel unwelcome. Even after told her I was a first-time customer, she responded to my questions with curt answers. A regular customer came in after me, and the counter lady was a completely different person — warm and friendly. I ordered brisket, cole slaw and green beans. The brisket had a nice smoky flavor but otherwise wasn’t that memorable. The green beans must have been out of a can, and the slaw was average. The pickle and condiment bar was excellent. The dining room is spacious and super clean. The silverware wrapped in a cloth napkin is a nice touch. My lunch with ice tea cost $18. The serving of brisket was generous, and I took half of it home and had it for lunch the next day.

I'm from Ohio, but I travel to Houston once or twice a year to visit family. Demeris is one of my "must-stops" when I'm in town. While I have tried more items, I almost always get their sausage, which is great with their sauce. All of the sides I've had also are really good; I often get the jalapeno corn because it's more rare to find. The self-serve pickle/pepper bar is a nice extra. As always, I'm looking forward to my next visit.

The food was amazing! The BBQ sauce is not as thick as what I’m used to, but it was so good & worked perfectly for my brisket loaded baked potato. The brownies were also really good.
