Eastbound Barbecue is one of Houston’s newest barbecue spots, and it’s already making a name for itself. Being open for less than two months, they’re off to an impressive start. The tray was outstanding from top to bottom. The brisket had a beautiful smoke ring, was juicy, and packed with flavor. The ribs were tender with just the right amount of bite, and the sausage was perfectly smoked with a great snap. The turkey was surprisingly moist. The sides were just as memorable. The smoky beans were rich and hearty, while the potato salad stood out with its unique texture and flavor. Everything on the tray tasted like it was made with care and attention to detail. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff makes you feel like they’ve been serving the neighborhood for years. It’s exciting to see a new barbecue restaurant come out this strong right from the start. If you’re looking for one of Houston’s newest barbecue destinations, Eastbound Barbecue is absolutely worth the visit. I’ll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu. Highly recommended!
Hate to do this, but… We ordered the Brisket Smash Burger and the Hatch Chile Lasagna Mac, and I honestly left wondering how these dishes ended up missing the mark this badly. Calling this a Brisket Smash Burger is a far reach. It was really just a cheeseburger with a few tiny bits of brisket tossed on top. The slices of brisket were so small they got lost in the burger. The patty itself tasted like one of those frozen burger patties you buy at H-E-B, except someone went way overboard with the black pepper. Every bite was overwhelmed by pepper to the point where it completely masked the flavor of the meat. Then they topped it with a slice of white cheese that had no business being anywhere near brisket. It was an odd combination that just didn’t work. For $15, I expected brisket to be the star of the burger, not a garnish. The Hatch Chile Lasagna Mac was just as disappointing. I should’ve run the moment I saw “Hatch Chile Lasagna Mac” on the menu. I’m a huge mac and cheese fan, and this was no substitute. It wasn’t mac and cheese, and it wasn’t lasagna either. The noodles weren’t tender at all. Instead, the layers seemed welded together, making every bite a chore to chew through. It wasn’t creamy, it wasn’t cheesy, and it certainly wasn’t comforting. It was one of those ideas that sounded great on the menu but just didn’t translate to the plate. To top it off, the self-serve drink station had an open ice bin with a communal scoop that everyone was reaching into. Seeing people grab the same scoop over and over while it sat in the open wasn’t exactly appetizing. It struck me as an unsanitary setup and definitely didn’t leave a good impression. We spent $99 as a family of four, and not one of us finished even half of our burgers. That’s something that’s never happened to us before. We came in excited after hearing so many good things, but left wondering what everyone else was eating. For nearly $100, this meal was a huge letdown. I don’t mind paying for good barbecue, but when the only flavor I could still taste hours later was black pepper, something went seriously wrong. Easy on the pepper next time. We only give restaurants one chance, and unfortunately, this one didn’t earn a second visit.
Amazing BBQ spot! The food was outstanding. The wings were perfectly cooked, flavorful, and some of the best I’ve had. The Works platter is a must-try if you want to sample a little bit of everything—the meats were tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. The drinks were also excellent and paired perfectly with the meal. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and generous portions. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving quality BBQ!
Wowww! This place is SO good!! We got the works plate and added an elote en vaso and the hatch chile lasagna Mac and cheese. I’m not a big pulled pork fan but this pulled work was so yummy, so much flavor!! The jalapeño and cheddar sausage was also super juicy and tasty. Honestly all of the meat was awesome! I love elote and this was probably one of the best elotes I’ve ever had. Beans are also usually average to me but these beans were really unique and flavorful. Every single thing we ordered was SO yummy!! Plus the place is really cute, once the weather gets a little more bearable it’ll be nice to use the outside seating! Only thing is I wish I lived closer lol
Awesome new place for barbecue! The people were great - wonderful service and very friendly! The food was so satisfying and delicious. Two of us shared The Works platter (brisket, pulled pork, ribs, sausage, beans, and potato salad). We also added in smoked wings. The potato salad was unique and a new favorite variation for us! The place has a fun vibe with lots of space - tvs, games, indoor/outdoor seating, plenty of street parking. Would definitely return again!
