Let me tell you my story of how God lead me to the BEST DETANGLING SPECIALIST in Texas. Don’t waste your time elsewhere- most ppl don’t have a clue what they’re doing if you’re dealing with a hardcore knot/matt in your hair. I felt helpless in a time of great stress in my life until UMAR. People don’t realize how quickly matts can form nor do they understand how long it can potentially take a Specialist to successfully get them out. For the first time in my life, because I’d been going thru some extremely stressful, constantly exhaustive circumstances, after dying my hair by myself (which I will neVer do again by the way), whenever I was rinsing my hair out, I noticed an extreme heaviness that turned out to be a bad matt. I couldn’t get it out by brushing or anything- my mom & sister couldn’t either & naturally it sent me into a stressful panic. I quickly consulted with a salon nearby & sent pics to see if they could help & the woman said she could. I went & after 5.5 hours in her chair laid back in her bowl(it sucked), I thought she was getting it out & she made it seem like she was. She barely spoke at all except to say “she’d never seen anything like this in her life.” I thought that was a really bizarre thing for a stylist with 20yrs experience to say because even I have seen matts before lol. Whenever she finally allowed me to feel what she’d been doing, I didn’t really know how to react because after 5.5 hours, the matt hadn’t been detangled at all. I was in a panicked shock- she managed to move the matt up to my roots almost & said it looked like an updo… wth?!! I was at a loss for words & it wasn’t until I got home that I realized how dyer of a traumatic & emergency situation she had just made my hair- dangerously worse. My sister & I were in shock & hurriedly started researching actual DETANGLING SPECIALISTS-which there are NOT many of & we found UMAR. What a GODSEND. I’m not too proud to say I felt helpless & scared. Stuff happens especially when you’re a mom & everything is on you & when you finally get the time to dye your hair, you rush thru it & something bad happens. Never again. I immediately contacted Umar & he saw the urgency & got me in like within a day or so. I can’t put into words how thankful I am for Umar. This man is a SPECIALIST WHO IS RARE & 1 of the only people that actually knows how to detangle hair properly & it’s a process & the time, skill, knowledge, kindness, quality care & expertise that he has is UNMATCHED. I was at a very low & stressed out place & Umar & I immediately hit it off & no matter what kind of mood I was in, we had the best time together. Getting a matt successfully & carefully detangled can take many hours across multiple sessions- it just depends & is very individualized, but I’ve always had long hair that I love & Umar saved it. My time with him was literally therapeutic. I will never go to any other stylist- only Umar. He TRANSFORMED my hair whenever I was in a desperate situation feeling helpless & the reality was setting in that if I didn’t find a detangling specialist SOON, that I could have lost the majority of my hair. Umar made my hair the way that I have always wanted it to be— FAR BETTER & more BEAUTIFUL & HEALTHIER than it has ever been in my life. I’m in awe & I cannot even express how thankful & grateful I am into words. Umar is second to none & I am BEYOND THANKFUL for him & his expertise & commitment. There are a lot of people out there who want to just take advantage of people. God had a lifesaver lined up & I asked Umar how & why he got into Detangling & he said “to help people.” & that literally sums up this guy because he works HARD & Detangling is NOT EASY & it’s very time consuming & it takes a lot of patience. If you or someone you know is experiencing a Matt or hardcore knotting in your hair, don’t be embarrassed or ashamed- it HAPPENS & THERE IS NON-JUDGMENTAL, SPECIALIST, PROFESSIONAL CARE FOR YOU & his name is UMAR & he is the best. I’m extremely traumatized by what happened to my hair at Beauty by Umar. I went in on April 16 for a detangling session with mostly loose hair and one isolated knot. I walked out with my entire head severely matted to the scalp, and in actual pain. From the beginning, Umar kept asking what my budget was and repeatedly tried to upsell me on expensive treatments. I clearly stated that all I wanted was to gently remove the knot but he continued anyway. At one point, he even said if my budget ran out, he could just cut my hair off. That should have been my sign to run. Instead of working carefully, he applied water and what he claimed was a “protein treatment,” then blow-dried it into my hair without properly detangling anything first. This caused extreme matting, tightness, and pain I had never felt before. When I voiced concern during the session, he dismissed me and coldly claimed my hair “already looked like that,” which is absolutely false. The moment the damage was done, he ended the session early, barely brushed the ends, and told me to just blow-dry and cover it. I couldn’t sleep that night from the pain and tension in my scalp. Just a few hours later, I sought out the opinion of another licensed stylist, who was shocked and confirmed this never should have happened. I had paid a $250 deposit for a follow-up but canceled, going back would have made things worse. Umar refused a refund and sent a gaslighting message blaming me for “only doing one session” as if I should return to someone who severely worsened my hair condition in just one hour. I have before-and-after photos that clearly show how drastically worse my hair was after his service. This wasn’t just unprofessional it was negligent, manipulative, and emotionally traumatizing. I’ve filed a dispute with my credit card provider and will be filing a formal complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). $125/hour for this level of damage is not just overpriced it’s dangerous. If you have natural, tangled, or delicate hair, please stay far away from this place.

Umar is the absolute best at detangling! Please please do yourself the favor and pleasure of booking with Umar. I took my 13 year old daughter to Umar, when no one else could help us, and he detangled my daughter's hair without having to cut it. He uses great products and he is gentle with the hair and knows many tricks to help ease the process. Umar is kind, funny, generous, compassionate, mindful and an all around good human being. His customer service is excellent. He truly cares about the people who come to see him. He's the best at what he does and is always pushing himself to learn more and be the best he can be. I highly and without reservation recommend him. Thank you Umar, we will be forever grateful for your help. And a big shout out to Amber too🙂

Dont you dare thank me for leaving a honest reveiw! The professional salon thay fixed my hair, after you butchered it was surprised you call your self a professional. You hurt my pride by trust you and changing me a $1000 you need Jesus Christ. Tell the truth Umar. ¹I dont know who posted this post but I have a feeling they are not his clients. He told me out of his mouth that all the pictures on his website were not his work. I spent $1100 dollars there the 2nd day my husband showed up at lunch seen my hair from the back and stopped the scam. My hair looked the same if not worse. Umar refused to wet my hair, he just physically pulled my hair out which not only hurt but I was losing hair. It was terrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Umar be honest with these ppl. He says he has 22 years experience and he maybe 25 years old himself maybe younger. Its a shame. I started recording him and he's lies the 2nd day and im considering taking him to court. I SPENT $1100 AND MY HAIR was still Messed up and he cut it not knowing where he was cutting, look I could go on and on just please go somewhere else, to a real salon. This is about the size of a closet and he lies so much. If you go he you'll regret it. God bless you and God be will him.

My daughter and I went in for cut, style and baylage. Vanessa thoroughly explained the importance of selecting the right color for our skin tone. She is definitely a color expert. Super clean salon and entire staff is very welcoming. Love this place!
