Purchased a boat in May, process was great. Some small issues from boat were identified months later (manufacturer related), and MT Houston didn’t hesitate to make it right promptly. Good people. 10/10
After buying campers and boats at large dealerships in the past, I can say that none treated me anywhere near as good as Mt Houston Marine. The personal care I received was completely unexpected in today’s world. It’s not fancy, but their products, work, and personal care are top notch. I very much recommend them.
I bought my Avid 21 Fusion. Very happy with the boat and service that Mt Houston Marine provided
Been doing business with this small business now since 2016 where I bought a nice 23" Pathfinder which I love. Great boat, great doing business this small family owned and operated business. I've had boats all my life so I'm no rookie. I'm now 70 YO, retired Houston Fire Dept. and held the rank of Senior Captain for 20 of my 32 years served. So I bring my boat in for a simple battery replacement, which is 5 batteries for a center console fishing boat. No easy task or expense. When picking up my boat I was told we have a 3% charge for CC. ME: OK, if I was told ahead of time, I would have brought a check." I've owned operated a business for about 28 years and when we began taking CC, we were told "at that time that charging customers fees for the CC fees is illegal. I don't know where things are today, but everyone is doing it so I guess it's ok. Didn't like this for an $1100 invoice." "If I was told, I would have brought a check!" Bear in mind I've been a customer for about 10 yrs. ME: "if you want to trust me, I can send a check." THEM: No response, just tight lipped and anger. "Don't worry about it, we won't charge you." ME: I'll pay it, don't worry about it." VIA body language, we won't trust you to send a check. So my integrity has now been insulted. THEM: "telling me where my boat is so I can go back in the yard and pick it up." So while I'm out back hitching up, the owner comes by and tells me I understand about the misunderstanding regarding the CC fee. If you need future service for your boat, don't bring it here.!!!! SERIOUSLY!!! I would have never talked to a customer in this manner. The anger from the lady inside and then the owner with more anger comes out and chews me out for what is really a misunderstanding, there is NO WAY I will come back to this place. The thing is, does a business owner really talk to a customer in such a disrespectful manner and expect his business to prosper. Looking around this place, the show room is practically empty and out back the yard is about the same. Clearly this is a business in decline. I hate this for them, but taking your anger out on customers is not a good idea. I've already looked up other places to take my boat and there are plenty.
Just bought my first boat and I have to say I was a little nervous about it prior to calling Mt Houston. Tyler took the time to explain every part of the boat and educate me on proper procedures. I have a strong feeling this will not be my last boat and I will definitely be going back to buy the next one.
