Dirty tables more often than not. The food is made fresh. Service is straightforward. Order at the window, wait for your number to be called. Cash only. I ordered the fish sandwich and it came out piping hot, add pickles since they do not have tartar sauce. Overall, a quick bite to eat on a late night.
Was around the area for a metal festival and craving for something quick. Great prices and great service too, I wish we had something like this back in NYC. Will come back!
First time here and this wasn’t for me. Ordered the cheese burger and chili cheese fries. The meat tasted/looked steamed? It wasn’t hot enough to melt the cheese. The bun was hard and dry. The fries - made me leeery. Stadium cheese? Meat topping? I love it for the people who love it - just not my jam.
Service is quick and the portions are huge. There’s also lots of outside seating. Got 3 double burgers, milkshake and an order of onion rings for about $18. The burgers won’t blow your mind or anything, but for the price they’re decent.
Poppa Burger is one of those old-school downtown Houston burger spots that just gets it right. It has a classic, no-frills feel and is somewhere I’ve frequented after group bicycle rides downtown. The prices are very fair, especially for the quality and portions. I had the jalapeño burger, onion rings, and a shake, and it absolutely hit the spot. The food is consistently really good and honestly something I end up craving when I’m nearby. It’s not fancy at all, but that’s part of the charm. I believe they are cash only, so come prepared. Definitely worth stopping by if you want a solid burger joint with an old Houston feel.
