Louisiana native here. Let me just start by saying if this Restaurant had better management and someone in the kitchen that could actually cook Cajun food the money making potential is there. Now with that being said. Serving packaged gumbo when it’s so simple to make a roux from scratch is pretty sad. The seafood was greasy and bland, the shrimp tasted like they are frozen and breaded box shrimp. The only 5 star item was the Tartar SAUCE. The menu had a bowl of shrimp and grits and they brought unseasoned fried grit patties with packaged étouffée covering the two ridiculously dense grit patties. Then staff had the nerve to look at my husband and say well you didn’t say CREOLE shrimp and grits which is not listed on the above menu yes a bowl of grits is. Didn’t bring him the correct item that has a dang photo on the above menu, that gesture right there tells you are definitely in TEXAS and not eating at a real Cajun Louisiana establishment. Even if they are posing as one with the name Boudreaux. Thats a 1 and done for us. Don’t let the photos fool you. This isn’t great cajun food. It’s an imposter.
Service was nice. Food wss extremely disappointing. I've all but given, up on trying to eat out because restaurants are raising price and shrinking quantites and reducing quality and act like we dont notice. I used to love their stufged shrimp. They had shrimp pieces and the large tailed shrimp in them and were hearty and big with loads of flavor, onions, corn, bel peppers, etc. Now ithey are darn near halh the size they used to be, use 1 tiny shrimp, and are just almost all plain dressing with little seasoning amd flavor bits. Like they put 1 onion, 1 8 oze can of corn and 1 belpepper in a batter batch meant to make a catering size bac h of stuffed shrimp. Its shameful really. Anyway guees i better stayy home and make them myself at home. Any t8me i order them now, i have to buy extra shrimp at h.e.b. to make them proportional with shrimp to how they used to be when i first started buying them.
My new favorite Cajun go to spot!! Great food we tried the fried gator, shrimp and had to try the crawfish! Everything was delicious and had the perfect spice to it. Restaurant was clean, fun decor…staff were super friendly, they gave great menu recommendations and very attentive! Can’t wait to go back! 10/10 🙌🏻
I found myself here for lunch on a weekday. It wasn’t real busy at 11:30. I tried the Louisiana Sampler and found the fish to be good with a nice crispy batter. The shrimp were small, but came butterflied and were tasty. The hush puppies had a good buttery flavor and the boudin balls had the right amount of spice. The fries were okay but there were way too many. I would most likely come back and try the blackened fish.
Boudreau's offers good, fresh food in a great, clean atmosphere. Visited at 7pm on a Saturday, and surprisingly, it wasn't crowded at all. The French fries could use more crispiness, and portions felt a bit small overall. Still a solid spot for a casual meal!
