I’ve rented cars for a long time and from a lot of places, but this was by far the worst experience. Poor management and customer service. Made reservation ahead of time. They didn’t have the vehicle type I reserved, which happens in car rental business. Always results in a free upgrade/accommodation of some sort. Not this place. Charged full price of upgrade and was told no choice of vehicles available because they were reserved (as if my preferred vehicle wasn’t). When I asked the owner about it, he said I was already receiving a discount through the company I worked for so why does it matter as long as I’m saving. Mind blowing.

Vehicle booked a week ahead of time. Received call that no cars available. Was asked to check with other locations. Called central Avis helpline which stated car was reserved and available and showed on location. My reservation was cancelled without any help to locate another vehicle. Just stranding me without a car. Terrible customer service/experience.

SCAM!!! This Budget/Avis location is a SCAM! I provided my reservation number and they informed me that they didn’t have any car available and that they accidentally over booked. I told Avis I paid $25 to Uber to them. He told me they have another car on the lot for $40 more a day. After haggling him down he settled on $20 more a day. I then realized it was a SCAM! They offer great rates online then once you arrive and are in need of a car they up charge you. DO NOT BOOK WITH AVIS or BUDGET AT 6935 Kirby Drive, Houston, TX 77030!!!

Showed up to this Avis location to return my car at 2pm and they are closed. Online and on the door it shows they close at 6pm. My rental was from Dallas to Houston and traffic caused delay. No one answered per usual when calling, and the location showed no alternate hours for New Years Eve. Common courtesy would be to call customers who have reserved drop offs to let them know they would be closing early - or at least post the hours on the door. All small Avis locations are just sad these days.

Usually my Avis rentals go smooth and with no issues. I used to travel for work frequently and would use Avis every single time. But I do not recommend renting from this location. I was given a worn vehicle with 40k+ miles, back tire indicating it was going flat, and a cracked windshield. The attendant had me sign all the paperwork inside before giving me the keys to the vehicle so I didn’t see the issues prior to this. After getting inside the car, I returned inside to point out the issues and was given assurance that everything was no problem and that the tire sensor was just malfunctioning. Good thing I followed my intuition and took photos prior to leaving the location because I received a billing letter for a windshield replacement. Immediately called customer service and sent in the photos so the charges were reversed. Cover yourself if you are renting here and have all damage and issues documented before you drive off. Better yet, go to another location.
