This was one of the worst rental experiences I’ve had. When I walked in, there was already a long line, and only one employee was handling everything—checking customers in, processing reservations, and even going outside to inspect and photograph vehicles. Meanwhile, another employee sat at the front desk simply telling people how many customers were ahead of them instead of helping move the line along. Even with a reservation, the process was extremely slow and disorganized. When it was finally my turn, the employee assisting me, Toya, was rude and unprofessional from the start. She claimed I had made my reservation at the last minute and would have to pay more, which wasn’t true. When I offered to show her my reservation details, she showed no interest because it was clear she was mistaken. Without explaining anything, she processed my reservation and assigned me a Jeep. When I politely asked why I was being placed in a Jeep instead of the vehicle I reserved, she sarcastically responded, “Well, do you want to pay more?” I told her no , I simply wanted someone to communicate my options before charging my card or changing my reservation. Instead of addressing my question, she immediately became defensive and said she wasn’t going to go back and forth with me and that she could refuse to rent to me if she wanted. At no point was I being disrespectful, I was simply asking for an explanation. To make matters worse, Toya wasn’t even wearing a Hertz uniform. She was dressed in a plain shirt, sweatpants, and gym shoes, which looked very unprofessional for someone representing the company. The employee cleaning the vehicles also wasn’t in uniform. Ironically, the only person wearing a Hertz uniform was the employee sitting at the front desk who wasn’t helping customers despite the long wait. Customer service, communication, professionalism, and efficiency were all lacking at this location. I chose Hertz because I expected a smoother experience, especially after making a reservation, but this visit was frustrating from beginning to end. I won’t be renting from this location again, and I hope management addresses both the staffing issues and the way customers are treated.

I’ve rented from this place specifically about 5-7 times (can’t remember because I took a break when they were super rude) since being in Houston. I ALWAYS ASK FOR THE TICKET TO BE CLOSED OUT because I’ve been burned in the past. Every time I’ve rented at this place, I ask. Per usual I asked them to close me out and The woman seemed a bit hesitant but whatever….again, these aren’t personable people, so I didn’t care. Lo and behold… I should have checked the receipt before I left but they charged me for 5 gallons of gas even though the car was full as shown by the picture. The only person working is the lady who cleans the cars-She is amazing and tries to help when you’re standing in an empty building waiting for someone. And they have this new guy who is very kind but I’m sure he will be gone once he sees the way the pair of longstanding employees run this place. It’s annoying, just rent at the airport, less convenient but I’ve never been scammed nor deal with the attitude. I

I had an excellent experience with Hertz at their downtown Houston location. The staff was very respectful, professional, and made the entire process quick and easy from start to finish. A special shoutout to Jay—he was extremely helpful, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly. His customer service really stood out and made the experience even better. The car I received was very clean, spacious, and drove smoothly. Returning the vehicle was just as simple—quick, convenient, and hassle-free. I really appreciated how easy they made everything, getting me in and out without any issues. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for a smooth and stress-free rental experience!

I had a wonderful experience with a very nice car but even more important to me were the friendly, helpful, and very warm employees when I was picking up the car and when I was returning the car. It was the best experience with a rental company that I have had in a long time. Someone really knows how to hire exceptional people.

I had an absolutely phenomenal experience with Hertz, and I have to give a special shoutout to Jay for making everything seamless from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, Jay was welcoming, professional, and genuinely attentive to my needs. The process was quick, stress-free, and organized—exactly what you hope for when renting a car. Jay went above and beyond to make sure I got the perfect vehicle, taking the time to explain my options and ensuring I was completely comfortable before leaving the lot. The car itself was spotless, well-maintained, and drove perfectly. What really stood out was the level of customer service. Jay’s positive attitude and willingness to help made a huge difference and turned what could have been a routine rental into a truly great experience. It’s rare to come across someone who cares this much about their customers. I will definitely be choosing Hertz again in the future, and I highly recommend this location—especially if you get the chance to work with Jay. Exceptional service!
