Super nice out-of-the-way location upstairs in the shopping center. The atmosphere was right out of the Cantonese restaurants I used visit as a child with my parents. The hot and sour soup may be the finest I've had and the Hunan chicken was perfectly spiced to give a kick without washing out the flavor in heat.

This place is the absolutely definition of a local gem. Delicious food and so so wholesome from the moment you walk in. Tom was our server and did an amazing job. Will definitely be back and highly recommend their fresh dumplings! We were pleasantly surprised with the Spinach dumplings, yum.

The dumplings are sort of one note. We did the dumpling sampler and they all tasted the same overall. The shrimp toast was nice and the bao buns are good. Service is excellent.

Scathing review to follow: I needed to go the memorial hermann physical Therapy downstairs for treatment and thought I would stop in here for a convenient lunch. That was an unfortunate choice. As one that has traveled throughout China, I developed an appreciation for the many different cuisines found there. The food at this restaurant did not meet any of those experiences or standards. I was with a friend. After a few bites he choked. I said do you want me to do the Heimlich maneuver and he waved me off. He stood up struggling and threw up part of the food but was still choking. We ran out of napkins. He tried not to get vomit on the table and floor. I said to the staff he is choking. Nobody flinched, not a move, not a blink, not an offer to help…crickets. The restaurant had only a few patrons at the time. We scrambled to the bathroom to try to help him clear his obstruction. After several minutes he was safe but still struggling. He said there’s an emergency care facility downstairs, I want to go there. He headed out the door and and I watched through the door as he went down the stairs. The restaurant owner came over and said who will pay the bill? I said don’t worry about the bill…our phones are on the table. Not a question asking if my friend was ok… then he said…the emergency care facility downstairs was closed. I returned to the table and picked up the bill. I waved to the owner I was ready to pay. He walked over and took the card as I picked up our belongings (phones) from the table. I boxed the food, paid the bill. Not a word about my friends condition. Walked out and tossed the food in the trash. During this, the owner suggested as I paid, he should drink some more tea… As a Houston resident, I normally make the 30 minute drive to restaurants with authentic Chinese food in Chinatown. I didn’t today. It was a mistake. The food here…poor…at best. This restaurant has been here a long time…amazing. I can only Explain it by thinking they have catered the food to their very localized clientele (check the zip code). Further, I would wager many of their clientele would never make that drive to authentic, amazing food found throughout Chinatown. Food - poor Service - no comment Atmosphere - tired and dated - but that isn’t important if the food and service are good. Bottom line: one experience and done. Suggestion to owner and staff: pay attention to your clientele. If someone is visibly struggling with a potential life threatening situation, act…offer help…show you give a damn.
