Probably the best Greek & Mediterranean food I’ve had in Houston! Our first time here and John was our server. We got the octopus appetizer and falafel for starters; octopus was tender and tasty, definitely recommend! I asked John to pick a dish that would fill us up. He suggested the lamb platter: a roasted lamb shank and grilled lamb chops with Greek potatoes which my girlfriend and I shared. Service was excellent, food was incredible, and we will definitely be back to try everything on the menu.
Athena’s was a gem! The family feel from the team was a hit with our group. Everything was fresh and our group loved the experience. Prices were fair. Where this place really shined was the appetizers and desserts. There was a simplicity to the food that felt like it was cooked at home. Flavors were balanced. Worth stopping in.
I found this place on the way home from getting some not so great news, but my spirits are lifted after eating here. The food was delicious, veggies tasted fresh, service was great and quick. I'm definitely coming back here and bringing others when we are craving delicious food. I had the tzatziki appetizer and the kokkinisto; both I highly recommend! I loved the garlic bread and chocolate baklava as well.
Loved the lamb shank that I got. The fatty pieces were so so tender and literally melted in my mouth, absolutely delightful. The meat sections that were more muscle dense were a tiny bit drier and less flavorful but as a whole, this was quite good! I also loved the desserts although I'm unsure what they were - though still delicious and they were given complimentary of the owner!
Athena’s is authentic Greek food! The owner Maria, cooks traditional meals for an affordable price! Very happy with the cuisine, service and atmosphere. Greeted by Greek music when we walked in, to the tasting of some desserts we purchased… Fabulous experience!!!! Highly recommend! Lemon chicken soup is a fav and high quality Greek is hard to find😜 Athena’s has it all!!! Greek baked goods-delicious!
