I sat at the bar with Javier and Freddy. Started with the Sunshower G&T. It had a mint/cucumber/cantaloupe taste profile and was phenomenal. Great summertime drink. With regard to food I ordered the beet foam, the Spanish octopus, half and half order of the fresh pickled anchovies and the anchovies from the Calabrian Sea, the almond soup, the beet-pistachio-raspberry ravioli salad, and the grilled duck breast. The beet foam salad was imaginative and the flavor contrast really popped. Personally, I thought the octopus was bland - I've had much better on various occasions. I'd suggest the pickled anchovies over the ones from the Sea, but having both was a treat as well. The almond soup was very rich - I finished about half of it - but it was delicious and the mushrooms were hearty and grilled well. I thought the ravioli salad was also creative and I enjoyed the tartness of the dressing. As for the duck, this was my biggest disappointment. It was very difficult for me to enjoy the duck because it the idiazábal cheese sauce completely overpowered it. And instead of providing the sauce on the edges of the plate (so that I may explore it on my own), the duck was swimming in it. I was consistently scraping off the cheese so that I could do my best to enjoy the protein without such an overpowering flavor profile as the cheese. This was a big disappointment for me. For dessert I ordered the crispy fillo dough and this was a killer dish. Probably the best thing I tasted all evening. Unfortunately, it was the only picture I forgot to take. Capped the meal off with a Vealenciano G&T which has a coffee profile. Very enjoyable. The service was great. The atmosphere is wonderful. The live music was extraordinary. I would return, but will avoid the octopus and the duck going forward. Side note: those plates above the bar were crafted by Pablo Picasso. There is art presented throughout both floors of the restaurant, including pieces by Salvador Dali.
Oh we loved our brunch date here with Freddy as our server! Service was truly impeccable and he gave great recommendations. Octopus appetizer was a standout favorite and my husband raved about the ham. The pasta had a bit of a seafood taste that I didn’t care for but it was overall well prepared. I had been craving churros all week and these did not disappoint - light and crispy. Chocolates at the end were decadent and divine. Hostess was also wonderful and seated us in the perfect spot per my request. Can’t wait to return!!
This is a late review, I visited last year to celebrate valentine’s day with my partner. I believe our reservation was quite last minute so we were seated at the bar but it was still very enjoyable. The whole place seems to be very packed and popular. Ambiance is very nice. When we arrived it was a bit confusing because it seems like the establish is in a layout of a house but it’s so different and nice. I adored the inside interior so much! I believe out of all the michelin places we’ve been to in Houston, I’ve enjoyed the food here the most and I felt it was very worth the price. The service was nice as well and the person attending the bar was very helpful with any questions I’ve had.
Great experience! Loved the art, the service was excellent, and the music was beautiful. The food was delicious; we tried a variety of dishes. My favorite was the pork and the Iberico ham. Also, the churros with chocolate. Delicious! Definitely coming back. This place is probably one of the different Michelin-starred restaurants I have tried that you say they deserve it, and why they have one. Amazing. All around 👌
We celebrated my birthday at MAD the first time and loved it, after hearing that they are the same owners, we decided to try BCN, and celebrated my husband’s birthday here The food was also great,. We enjoyed the seafood very much and the Cochinillo. Everything was cooked to perfection. The bomba rice is okay but the seafood on top of it was really delicious especially the langoustine! The drinks are also great! They gave us complimentary dessert for my husbands birthday!
