I don’t hand out five stars lightly, but The Capital Grille absolutely earns it. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels upscale without being stiff. The service is dialed in—attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed without hovering. You can tell they take pride in every detail. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection—exact temperature, beautifully seasoned, and easily one of the best I’ve had. No gimmicks, just high-level execution. And if you’re into cocktails, the Old Fashioned is no joke—strong, smooth, and made the way it should be. One thing to know going in: sides are à la carte, and pricing is definitely on the higher end. But honestly, the quality backs it up. The portions are solid, and everything we tried delivered. If you’re looking for a place that consistently nails the experience—food, drinks, and service—this is it. Perfect for a date night, celebration, or when you just want a top-tier steak done right.
The food was great but I wouldn't recommend coming here with a group or to celebrate a special occasion because the service was pretty bad. As soon as my Dad & I joined the rest of my family the waiter came over to ask my Dad if he would like a drink then he walked away from the table. My Cousin had to flag him down so that I could ask for a cocktail menu. I apologized for being late but told him that we were hungry & could he please bring us the appetizer/ salad menus as soon as possible. At that point I thought that the rest of my party had already eaten an appetizer. I ordered the Grand Moet Cocktail (not sure the exact name) it was described as a Champagne Cocktail with Gin and Grand Marnier. Instead of a nice Effervescent cocktail with subtle notes of Cognac, orange and vanilla, I was given some version of a French 75 that had zero Grand Marnier added to it. My drink was flat, off balance and pretty acidic. The waiter never asked if I was enjoying it, even as it sat there barely touched. He also never asked if I wanted a different drink. It turned out that my Sister & Brother-in-law had both asked for food menus, 20 minutes before I sat down but had no luck either. My sister ended up having to use her phone to pull up the appetizer list off their website just to order the Oysters Rockefeller with Brie (which were delicious). Although one tiny appetizer for 7 adults because we didn't receive food menus for 45 minutes; after at least three different people, including me, had to ask more than once is annoying. My cousin & I ordered the Bone-in Ribeye to split somewhere between Medium Rare to Medium. The waiter even clarified that we wanted Medium Rare Plus. The steak was seasoned well but it was cooked Rare (it had a cold red center). It was very obvious that the steak was undercooked because they cut it in half before bringing it out. My Dad's Sushi Grade Seared Rare Tuna, right next to me, was cooked more than our steak. Once again the waiter never checked on me to ask if I was enjoying it or question why I didn't eat more than 2 bites of my steak. When we ordered desserts the waiter didn't ask anyone, if we wanted an Espresso, a glass of Port or Brandy. My slice of flourless dark chocolate cake was one of the best I've ever had. I would have really enjoyed having a drink with my dessert though. It's awkward when you're being taken out for your birthday to a nice restaurant, expecting a certain level of service and it feels like everyone is spending so much time trying to flag down the waiter to ask for things. As soon as I was dropped off at home I cooked my steak for a few more minutes, poured myself a glass of wine and finished eating dinner.
The restaurant was beautiful, with a dark interior decoration. It was a birthday dinner and there was a birthday card and special desert with a candle. The bathroom was beautiful! Smelt very sanitary. The food delicious but was in small portions. The bread basket made up for the small portion size 😁
Was visiting from NY. The restaurant was beautiful very clean and the staff was very welcoming on our entrance in. Let me tell you about our waitress Chelette she was very nice and responsive to us. We asked her opinion on drinks and food her recommendations were amazing. I got the lamb chops...best I have had in a really long time. Mashed potatoes were perfect and my expresso martini perfect. I highly recommend dining here if your in the houston area. It will not disappoint. I would request Chelette too!
I had a fantastic experience dining here. Everything from the main course to the dessert was prepared perfectly. My steak was cooked to exactly the right temperature, and the sides were delicious. The crème brûlée was a highlight, topped with beautiful fresh berries and mint. I really enjoyed the presentation of every dish. The atmosphere is wonderful, making it a great spot for a nice dinner. I will definitely be back soon.
