As of 6/13/26 the course was in good shape. Seems like they punched about two/three weeks ago. The grass is coming in nicely. I thought the greens were in great shape. They have a couple CPO holes to let the fairways get some help. I didn't mind at all. The rain has done amazing things as well. Should be really nice until the mid summer when, of course, everything dies. It is a challenging course. Water around you, protective bunkers around the greens. Some tight fairways. Some fairways that look tight so they scare you but they actually open up. If you know where to put the ball, there are many scoring opportunities. The bunkers were a bit hard and could use a good raking but I think that is mostly because of the rain. Round came with range balls and a hotdog/burger and beer/soda/water of choice. It expensive for the quality, but I think that is why they give you the food and range balls.
Character killed by lack of care. The golf course has a lot going for it. The layout is interesting and can be a good challenge. The greens and tee boxes are well maintained. The staff are friendly, and there’s regular refreshments on offer from the cart coming around while you play. Unfortunately, the course itself is so poorly maintained that it really ruined the experience for me. Pretty much none of the bunkers seem to be in play, given how poorly cared for they are, with many not having rakes either. If your ball lands in the rough there’s a good chance you won’t find it because of the piles of grass cutting everywhere. My wife and I both lost balls within feet of the fairway because of this having seen where the ball went. The drains and sprinkler heads are overgrown too. In summary, there are many far nicer maintained courses at this price point in the area, so I’d pick one of those before coming here. The second star was because of the curses potential, and the staff, it really wasn’t good.
I had a really disappointing experience at Houston National Golf Club and won’t be returning. When we checked in, an older male employee was completely rude and frankly ridiculous. He tried to charge us again even though we had already paid through GolfNow. We even showed him our receipt on GolfNow to confirm the payment, but instead of resolving the issue, he got upset and started raising his voice. He told us we weren’t allowed to get lunch, ordered us out of the clubhouse, and even said we didn’t belong there. The way he spoke to us and treated us felt like profiling, on top of acting like we didn’t know what we were talking about. The whole interaction was unnecessary and unprofessional. Things didn’t improve on the course. While we were playing, another worker followed our group for about six holes, repeatedly accusing us of bringing alcohol onto the property. We didn’t have any, and we even allowed him to check all of our carts to prove it. Despite that, he continued to follow us and asked again a couple of holes later if we had alcohol. It felt like harassment at that point. Overall, the customer service here was terrible. Between the ridiculous behavior at check-in and being followed and accused on the course, the entire experience was uncomfortable and frustrating. We genuinely felt profiled during our visit. Definitely not a place I’d recommend.
Greens are in rough shape- sand traps look like they haven’t been tended in months. Genuinely. Algae and fungus growth everywhere Joke of a course for the price they’re charging. Could be a nice spot if whoever is in charge cared a little bit. Customer service is brutal. A couple of older gentleman that work in the Pro Shop have no business interacting with customers
Early Tee time, on a Monday. Range balls included, so I stopped there for a quick warm-up. Solo player, so it was a fairly quick round. Fairways were nice, and greens were very well kept. Lots of undulation, so keep everything under control, and you can score pretty well. It was a dewy morning, but overall, it was a great course. Stopped in for the included lunch after the round (when you book through Houston National, not golfnow), including chips and a beer, if that's your fancy. Well worth the price of the round, all things considered.
