Over the past 10 years, the Houston SBDC has been an important part of the growth and evolution of STC Consulting. Entrepreneurship is a journey filled with uncertainty, reinvention, resilience, and continuous learning, and the guidance, resources, and support provided by the SBDC have helped me navigate many important stages of that journey. Their commitment to small businesses goes far beyond technical assistance. I am especially grateful to LeeVera Smith for her incredible coaching, encouragement, and leadership throughout the years. She consistently pushed me to evolve both professionally and personally, and her support has had a meaningful impact on my business and leadership journey. As STC Consulting celebrates 10 years in business, I can confidently say that the Houston SBDC has been a valuable partner in helping build a company designed not only to grow — but to last.
The SBDC was exactly what I needed to kickstart my small business. The clear communication with John, along with his step-by-step guidance, helped me gain valuable knowledge and ultimately contributed to the success of launching my brick-and-mortar candle business.
As a young Black Entrepreneur, USAF Veteran with a Masters Degree, I would not recommend this SBDC, especially in Fort Bend County. Advisors are not helpful and a bit rude. I visited the main office over by the Galleria and the receptionist was very rude. The SBDC should hire some younger forward thinking individuals. The first SBDC event I attended was ok, but my advisor didn’t even speak to me, as if we never met. That was a huge red flag. Long story short, my experience was horrible.
The Small Business Center is an excellent place for entrepreneurs to get support and recommendations from seasoned business owners. We appreciated David Chong's expertise and assistance and look forward to continuing to draw upon his guidance!
