Nick is amazing. Actually, the whole team that Nick Spector and Chris Bolio run is amazing. Every time my husband and I walk through our home, it feels like us. Much of that is thanks to the quality of the build and the positive smooth experience we had in building with Alair. If you are looking for a team that is honest, transparent about all costs, brainstorms creative ideas, will follow up with any questions in a timely manner, and who cares about the end result feeling like a home and not just the end of a long checklist on a worksite, you really should give them a call. Nick walked us through each step of the build, triple checked our choices before ordering materials to prevent and minimize change order fees, and kept us abreast of all the goings on even when we could not make it over to the house to inspect the progress. While home build costs are high these days, you can be sure that Alair will do their best to stretch your budget effectively and make sure you use spend your funds in ways that will best represent your needs and wants. For what we had built, we feel as if the cost was definitely on the low end of current fair market costs, while the quality was pretty much as good as it gets. Even our neighbors would stop us on the street to say how considerate, clean and quiet all of the build teams coming in and out of the project were. I doubt our home would have instantaneously felt as much like a home had we been with any other builder.

Carol, Ben, Nick and the team at Alair delivered a wonderful kitchen and first-floor renovation to our older home in West University Place. We were in the house almost the whole time, so it was a challenging effort. But, the Alair team showed great care for us and delivered just what we wanted in all respects!

I worked with Chris Bolio at Alair Homes over 10 years ago to build our home that we still live in today. If it’s possible, I love our house even more now than when we first moved in! It has held up beautifully and stands the test of time. During the whole build process, Chris listen to everything we wanted and his expertise and knowledge helped tremendously. He knows how to maximize every square inch and has a knack for combining beauty and function. Our project came in on time and under budget, which was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend Chris and Alair Homes to anyone considering building a home and would definitely work with him again in the future!

We had Nick Spector and Chris Bolio build our custom home. What an incredibly satisfying experience- and how surprised we are to say such a thing, when everyone else we meet is frustrated with their builders. Nick (who was primary on the project) embraced our highly customized out-of-the-box vision and made it real. We were supremely satisfied with the quality of the project they pulled off- Nick’s attention to detail blew our minds as he was dedicated to the same incredibly meticulous finish that we were committed to- usually finding the details awaiting final revision before we did with a plan in place to make them pristine. Supply management even in the era of lockdowns was superb- on a very large build with hundreds of venders, we rarely waited on a part and to the extent that delays in deliveries occurred other supplies and labor teams were ready to go early in parallel such that the project was completed when we expected it would be. Costs were completely transparent and on the low end of current market costs. We were able to choose any subcontractor we wanted while getting excellent recommendations on options for folks that Nick and Chris had worked with successfully in the past. A few times we went with folks we chose who were new to Nick and Chris, but in retrospect probably would have been better off picking the folks they recommended in the first place. The subcontractors that we met through Nick and Chris were honest, kind to our young children, and respectful that they were entering our home- not just a job site. Our neighbors loved (this utterly surprised us) having Alair in the neighborhood because our build was quiet and clean- even when tile work or woodworking was occurring on site. We are skeptical, particular people with high expectations. Nick and Chris earned our trust. We recommend Nick and Chris's branch of Alair Houston without reservations.
