OMG this restaurant was so good! The manager was nice to my grandma and he checked in on us to see if we were enjoying the meal and to see if we wanted a refill of any of the items! The thali was tasty and the mango juice was delicious!
Maharaj Bhog Houston offers a fantastic thali with a wide variety of flavorful curries served on the side. The best part is that they provide unlimited refills of the curries, poori, chapati, and rice. Additional items like chaat, buttermilk, and sweets make the meal even more enjoyable. Everything was delicious, and the service was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and welcoming. A great place to enjoy an authentic and satisfying Indian thali experience.
Maharaja Bhog’s thali is truly something no other place can beat! I visited on a weekend, so there was a bit of a wait to be seated, but it was absolutely worth it. The thali comes with such a wide variety of dishes, it really feels like a complete feast for both the eyes and the tummy. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and authentically prepared. I especially loved the appetizer. The service style makes the experience even more special, with staff regularly serving different items and making sure your plate is always full. The jalebi brought back so much nostalgia from my hometown, perfectly crispy and delicious. Overall, one of the best places for a vegetarian meal and a wonderful Indian dining experience. Definitely worth visiting, especially if you enjoy traditional thali!
When my friend first suggested this place to me and i read the reviews of Maharaja Bhog, I was a little skeptical because I’ve tried vegetarian Indian thali places in the U.S. before and they often don’t live up to the experience you get back home. But the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt very warm and homely, and we received such a kind welcome. What impressed me the most was the service. The dishes kept coming one after the other with almost no wait time, and everything was served quickly and attentively. The manager in particular stood out - a very kind older gentleman who kept checking in with us, asking if we wanted more food, if we had eaten enough, and encouraging us to try different dishes. It felt very genuine and sweet. Another thing I loved was the variety in the thali. There were so many different dishes to try, and everything was served fresh and hot. Honestly, I have not had such a good vegetarian thali before. A couple of dishes really stood out to me - the eggplant sabzi was unmatched, and the palak chaat was absolutely delicious. I also feel like sometimes people expect restaurants like this to serve very fancy or experimental dishes. But what made this place special to me was the simple, authentic food that truly felt like home cooking. That touch of home is what made the experience stand out. I was surprised to see some reviews saying the place is too pricey or that the food isn’t great. My husband and I truly enjoyed the food and the overall experience. Fun Fact : I voluntarily wrote this review as I was upset about the rating of the place! We had a wonderful time here and will definitely be back.
Visited Maharaja Bhog and had a mixed experience. The authentic Rajasthani/Gujarati thali experience, variety of dishes, and traditional serving style were impressive. However, considering the hype and price per person, the overall experience could be better. Some dishes were great, while others were average. The biggest concern was cleanliness — the washrooms were not well maintained, and cleaning supplies were kept right outside the washroom area. Overall, worth trying once for the authentic thali experience, but better hygiene and consistency would make it much better.
