⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As an Indian visiting Houston, I was pleasantly surprised by how creative and refreshing the food at Pondicheri was. This isn’t your typical Indian restaurant—it’s a modern, chef-driven take on Indian cuisine that manages to be innovative without losing its roots. The menu is incredibly diverse, with influences from across India and plenty of vegetarian, gluten-free, and health-conscious options. We tried a mix of dishes, including the dosa, garlic naan, saag, butter chicken, and pani puri, and each one had its own unique twist. The flavors felt familiar yet different enough to keep things interesting. The space itself is vibrant and inviting, with an industrial-chic design, large windows, colorful accents, and a lively atmosphere that feels equally suited for brunch, lunch, or dinner. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into both the food and the experience. What I appreciated most was that Pondicheri doesn’t try to recreate the standard Indian restaurant formula. Instead, it celebrates regional flavors and ingredients in a way that feels fresh, modern, and distinctly Houston. If you’re looking for Indian food beyond the usual butter chicken and naan (though theirs is excellent too), this is absolutely worth a visit. The food was really good, and my favorite part was definitely the dessert. The tea was a little too sweet for my taste, but the dessert had the perfect level of sweetness. We had a reservation and still had to wait around 8 extra minutes, which was a bit annoying, but everything else was good. The waitress was very polite and friendly. Overall, definitely worth trying.

Awesome food and ambiance, they’ve indoor and outdoor seating. Tried the bhel, patra, thali, masala milk & kulfi. Love the small twists to all Indian specialities. Service could be better, most items are priced high but with the atmosphere it makes sense; recommended!

Food is good with reasonable portions. Crowded, somewhat hectic, noisy vibe. Probably best to go when outside seating is a viable option. Order at the counter before seating and the staff missed and item likely due to the din and being rushed. Seating is a bit close for comfort and the all concrete and windows architecture of the place + open kitchen make it hard to hear the person across from you….even with the place half empty. Not really convenient to my home for take out so I doubt I will give them another chance which is a pity because the food was decent. However, rather spend more and enjoy my meal at kiran’s than deal with this chaos.

I came at lunch time on Tuesday. I didn't get a receipt, but I think I paid 28.00 for earth Thali. I would not get it again. I cook with a lot of "Indian" spices and make some Indian style dishes at home. The food that I had did not have the depth of flavor profiles that I expected for almost $30.00. Not to mention that I left a tip because I didn't realize that you get your own water(had floaters in it), and place settings and of course you place your order at the register. I don't understand why the tip option even comes up on the payment device considering that they're not promoting any service. I would say if everything on my plate the butter chicken was the worst. It tasted a lot like marinara sauce. Nothing like that. I'm used to with the ginger and the garlic and those flavors. Honestly, I thought it would come with rice too because that bread was not enough of a portion size. I will probably compare it to a chain Indian food restaurant where the food cost about $12 for lunch.
