The food at this place is surprisingly good and authentic. This is a semi self service restaurant with a very friendly cashier/server. It is also conveniently located adjacent to a public parking garage with a 2-hr free parking (if you dine here). We visited this restaurant on a Saturday for a late lunch and ordered 1) Chicken Biriyani, 2) Garlic Saag with lamb, 3) Chicken Tikka Masala Turmeric Bowl with Biriyani rice and Garlic Naan, 4) Chicken Tikka Masala with Basamati rice with Garlic Naan, and 5) one extra order of Garlic Naan. The total cost was ~$90 for 4 people, which is an average cost/person in Houston. The food was appetizing with generous portion. The chicken in Tikka Masala and lamb in Garlic Saag were exceptionally tender, packed with rich and savory flavor. The Garlic Naan texture was perfectly soft with a mouth-watering garlic-butter glaze. Dipping the garlic naan into the Tikka Masala or Garlic Saag sauce is so tasty and just melts in your mouth. If you are in the Rice Military area and craving for an authentic Indian cuisine, this is definitely a great spot to dine.
Turmeric ended up being a very convenient surprise. It's located on the ground floor of our Airbnb building, and we ducked in during a Houston downpour looking for a quick lunch. The chicken tikka masala and vindaloo were both packed with flavor and hit the spot. The menu also had a number of other interesting options that I'd happily come back to try. Service is counter-style, and everything was packaged well for takeaway. The only downside was that they weren't serving naan that day for some reason. That was a little disappointing, although it was probably just as well for my stomach since it was only lunch and I was already doing enough damage elsewhere on the trip. Overall, a solid, flavorful meal with friendly service and a convenient location. I'd definitely stop in again the next time I'm in the area.
We stumbled upon this place in the evening in December and it was nothing but vibes! like a cozy little nook on the corner of beautiful streets. we were tucked away in side with a warm homestyle meal, and enjoyed every bit of it! We ordered the delhiwala butter masala with garlic naan , it was so hot fresh out the kitchen, delicious! So warm and inviting, the young women at the counter greeted us with a warm smile and recommendations for first timers like us! 10/10 DEFINITELY reccomend. 🇮🇳
Turmeric Indian Cuisine delivers exceptionally well‑prepared Indian dishes. Meals are made to order, so a little patience is required—but the quality more than makes it worthwhile. At first glance, the space may feel like a fast‑casual restaurant, but the food tells a very different story. The flavors and execution are on par with a fine‑dining experience. The Chettinad pepper masala is a standout and highly recommended. If you park in the adjacent deck, be sure to scan the provided code to receive the complimentary parking offered by the restaurant. Highly recommended.
Despite the restaurant has a fast food restaurant setting, the food are made freshly, flavor is excellent if you like strong spices. The lady who works here is very helpful to explain the menu. I just wish they put more photos of their menu items since not all of us have enough knowledge of Indian food. But I can’t wait to come back again before I even finish the first meal here yet.
