Such a great place. If you like izakaya style this is one of the places I recommend. It has a great small plate selection but to get a good price go during happy hour. Their sushi is also good but honestly me and my friend will just order about ten small plates and go to town. The staff is really great everytime I go they are super friendly and welcoming. The ambience is pretty nice even when crowded it still feels private.

I've come to AKA for years and it has remained consistent with service and freshness. Though it can get busy in the evenings and/or weekends, you can usually get seated without too much of a wait. The food always comes out and tastes fresh and have yet to find a sake I didn't enjoy.

Never short of fantastic. It’s so consistently good. The environment fits no matter what you’re feeling. Quick lunch with friends after a fitness class, or a date night when you’re feeling something a little less fussy. Really great rolls, raw dishes, and an excellent happy hour selection. All in the heart of the loop at a stellar price.

My husband and I have frequented this place for years!!! The food is amazing. It's actually the first place I tried sushi. After yesterday, I'm not too sure l'll be eating here again. Service has decreased severely. We decided to walk out without even ordering. The atmosphere here was something. I noticed our waiter an Asian lady was much kinder to fully white guests. My husband and I are an interracial couple. Nonetheless, she was nasty. I haven't been here in a while and couldn't remember what my favorite drink was. I thought it was blueberry. Instead it was lemonade and cranberry juice mixed. Instead of being kind, she was loud, and tried to embarrass/chastise me in front of the entire restaurant. And then proceeded to talk about me with the other male waitress on staff. Did I mention loud? Other guests began turning around and staring at me. To me that would be unprofessional and caddy behavior for career waiters? i even tried to address the concerns. She proceeded to lie and say she didn't. But she was "asking a question". I'm not one to tolerate disrespect especially within an establishment I frequent or pay to be. There was no respect given until I got loud. I do understand the black community is boycotting Asian restaurants/businesses. I just really wanted sushi. After this experience, I will have to join. If you're white I recommend. If you're black, probably not. O stars would be more accurate.

I love Aka, I can truly say it's one of my favorite sushi spots. The all day happy hour on the weekends is fantastic, and they have a large selection of happy hour items. Service can be subpar depending on who you get, but I still find myself coming back for the food itself - worth it.
