Azumi has a lovely interior and outdoor area. I arrived right at 3 and got seated and served immediately. My visit was strictly for Thursday Happy Hour (3–6 PM), and I was looking forward to the $2 lychee martinis, apparently they’re $5 now. The martinis were great. I also ordered both crispy rice variations, chicken wings, Brussels sprouts, and oysters. I’d recommend arriving early because it gets packed quickly, so good luck finding parking. The food was okay overall, felt like it was missing a little something. I would still revisit for Happy Hour and the ambiance alone. Houston has so many other incredible sushi spots to choose from, but Azumi is great for drinks and vibes. I parked in the retail garage with no fee.
Azumi in River Oaks is one of those places that keeps you coming back. The sushi was incredibly fresh, every dish was prepared with care, and the flavors were outstanding. You can really tell they focus on quality. The afternoon Happy Hour is a fantastic bonus, with excellent specials that make it easy to try several items without spending a fortune. It’s a great spot to unwind after work or meet up with friends. The ambiance is stylish yet comfortable, creating the perfect setting for a relaxed meal. From the food to the overall experience, everything exceeded my expectations. Definitely one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in the area!
Came in for happy hour (3–6 PM on weekdays), and it was absolutely worth it. I ordered the $2 grilled oysters, a Tito’s vodka cocktail, and chicken wings prepared with tobanjan honey, confetti cilantro, and lime—everything was flavorful and well-executed. It wasn’t too busy around 3 PM, even for a Friday, which made for a relaxed experience. I was told Thursdays feature $2 lychee martinis, but it gets packed quickly, so arriving early is recommended. Overall, a great happy hour spot with solid pricing and quality offerings. I parked in the garage, there wasn't a fee but I had to take a ticket.
This is my new favorite sushi spot. Right in the heart of River Oaks District Shopping Center. I came for their happy hour which is 3-6p weekdays. Totally worth it. I tried the miso soup, spicy edamame, avocado roll & vegan maki roll. I like the bar set up, very warm lighting and intimate but ample room for seating. It wasn’t too busy around 5p but it was a Monday. Highly suggest coming here for a cute first date or very special occasion like birthday or anniversary. I would say it’s more for the adult grown and older crowd but if you want to bring your family, they will definitely take care of you.
My fiancé and I decided to get dinner here and we’ve been wanting to try! We decided to do the omakase to try a few things and got some appetizers as well. It was amazing sushi and the presentation surprised us every time. We were serviced by Logan who did an amazing job at conversation, asking how we wanted our pace, checking in on us, and explaining each course. We also weren’t drinking alcohol because of Lent for religious purposes. Logan asked if they could send sake to pair with our meal and it was very thoughtful to ask why we didn’t get drinks in the beginning. It was a kind gesture and it did enhance the meal! Even the restaurant’s manager, Taoufik, came to ask how we were doing and apologized for the wait. Although we didn’t notice that service was slow. This goes to show how attentive and caring the staff are and making sure we have a great experience. We would absolutely go there again whenever we are downtown !
