I initially met with Ryan on-site and specifically went over expectations for the property, including weeds, trimming, communication, and overall attention to detail. I was told everything would be handled proactively and that after the initial walkthrough I would be introduced to my account manager. Unfortunately, after the very first visit, multiple newly planted star jasmine vines were weed-whacked. Nobody mentioned it to me. I only realized after noticing the vines were dying a few days later and bringing it up myself. I was then told they were “waiting to see if the vines would recover.” The vines ultimately had to be replaced, which took about 10 days. Both Ryan and Mike indicated the vines being damaged are effectively my fault for having them planted into the lawn by the fence rather than a dedicated bed but it hasn’t seemed to be an issue since. During that same visit, large sections of my newly installed sod were also scalped. I was told it was because the lawn was uneven, although mower height could have been adjusted. They offered to repair it, but nothing was ever actually done, so I eventually just asked for topsoil so the grass could recover on its own. The biggest issue throughout the experience was communication and follow-through. Nearly every detail discussed during my initial walkthrough had to be repeatedly re-discussed with my account manager multiple times, often as though it was the first time anyone had heard it. Several items discussed during the original walkthrough were never completed at all. At one point I followed up around six times regarding a weed proposal. When I finally received one, it only included the front yard because I was told the backyard gate was “locked,” despite the company already having the gate code on file when I asked why he didn’t use the code on file he said have a good weekend. Throughout service, crew members also repeatedly rang the doorbell asking for the gate code even though I had specifically been told it would remain on file so we would not be disturbed. With two young children at home, this became frustrating very quickly. To be fair, they did attempt to resolve several issues after the fact, and I appreciate the professionalism in some of the later communication. However, the overall experience lacked the organization, communication, and follow-through that were originally promised.

We recently hired Hogue Landscape Services for a complete backyard transformation, and the results exceeded our expectations. Their team did an outstanding job installing artificial turf that completely transformed the space. They also designed and built a beautiful putting green that has become the highlight of our backyard. From start to finish, the crew was professional, detail-oriented, and easy to work with throughout the entire project. It's been about three weeks since Hogue Landscape redid our flower bed. It's a very small space and we had restrictions around an HOA owned crepe myrtle and sprinkler system as well as a neighboring gutter that pours water into the flower bed when it rains. Ryan worked with those restrictions and we ended up with a lovely little low maintenance bed. He put decorative rocks where the water falls from the neighbors gutter and that is working well. The plants are lovely and have settled in well and have produced flowers already. One of my neighbors made a point to stop me and tell me how great it looked!

Hogue Landscaping did our backyard after we finished the pool, and honestly, we’re thrilled. They delivered great work and listened. Every little detail or worry we had, they took care of it. James, the project manager, was super easy to work with, and everyone on their team was friendly and accommodating. They even went out of their way to help out when our neighbors had a minor issue. So if you want a team that does solid work and treats you (and even your neighbors) well, these are your people. We happily recommend them!

Hogue has provided top quality customer service, attention to detail, and quality installation. They have always helped us fit our needs into our budget, and they have worked proactively with us to solve specific site issues affecting drainage and erosion. On top of that, they've gracefully worked with multiple suppliers across the state to help us plant Texas natives - including the installation of Buffalo Grass turf (see photo). Altogether, they've made our land more sustainable on whatever budget we've had, and they've done so with an unmatched level of attention to detail.
