I’ve been training at Alliance Houston for a little over a year now and absolutely love this gym. Great ownership, fantastic instruction and a culture that makes everyone feel welcome from white belt to black belt. If you live in the Pearland or surrounding area I would highly recommend dropping in and giving Alliance BJJ a try.
After years of waiting to take a chance, I decided to commit and sign up at Alliance BJJ with absolutely no prior experience. None. I walked in my first day and was completely clueless, nervous, and confused. Soon, I would be welcomed in with open arms. These strong experienced people proved to be some of the nicest people I have ever met. I first started with Coach Alef, who helped me out in my first day. Today, I attended 2 classes, one with coach Ruben who specifically rolled with me, and helped out tons. However my best experience thus far was with Coach Martin. Coach Martin and I had small talk for over 20 minutes before class as I was very early, and on the mat he catered toward me the whole time. He worked with me through every position, and I was so happy. After class we talked for a while, and then he offered to roll with me for a few more minutes. He’s a fantastic teacher and an even nicer person, and I am so happy that he took time out of his day to practice with me. The other students are also fantastic, and exceptionally beginner friendly. Nobody wants to hurt you, and everyone is open to learning. If you’re like me and the idea floated far in the back of your mind for a long time, and you are nervous and scared to commit, don’t be nervous and just do it! I look forward to seeing more new faces! 10/10, 100/100, would recommend for everyone.
I’ve been training at Alliance Houston for about 10 months, and my only regret is not joining sooner. The gym is always exceptionally clean and well-maintained, creating a great environment to train and learn. Starting BJJ for the first time can be intimidating, but from day one I was welcomed by coaches and teammates who were patient, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping me improve. The culture is positive, ego-free, and focused on helping everyone grow, regardless of skill or experience level. I highly recommend Alliance Houston to anyone considering BJJ, whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned practitioner. Hope to see you on the mats!
Highly recommend this place. Supportive environment and very welcoming of new people. The instructors are exceedingly patient but what I was really surprised by was how helpful the other members are. Everyone really goes out of their way to mentor members with less experience. There are plenty of serious competitors here to support you if you want to throw yourself into training but also a great option if your looking for something more casual to incorporate exercise and establish a base level of competence in self defense. Thanks to everyone at the gym!
Great for my high energy son! He used to have behavior issues at school but ever since joining Muay Thai and Brazilian jiujitsu, I haven't received any calls!! Instructors Alef and Mike are awesome, they truly know how to speak and teach. They notice everything including when drawing the line of “its time to play” and “its time to learn”. I also really enjoy the instructor to student ratio, it doesn't feel like your child is being left out. All attention is always on them.
