Food was amazing A++, had lots of flavor. A surprisingly underrated restaurant, especially for brunch. Also, customer service was amazing. This meal made me fall asleep right after because of how good it was. This was actually a photo from a few months ago, but this review was long overdue. The sirloin or filet and eggs was a house special but I think it should be permanently on the menu!
Liz was an amazing server! We came for Houston restaurant week and their 3 course meal was phenomenal! We also added the additional 3 course drinks that you can pair with each course, I love this option, so smart! Great place to try for Houston restaurant week, I definitely recommend!
Absolutely amazing. The food and atmosphere is certainly not your typical Tex Mex style restaurant. Instead, it is a very nice surprise. I’m very impressed at all the hard work that has gone into making this restaurant an experience rather than just a place to eat food.
Hugo’s never disappoints. The service is consistently excellent, and the staff are always warm, welcoming, and attentive. The food is absolutely delicious—every dish feels thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. I especially recommend the carnitas; they’re tender, perfectly seasoned, and easily one of my favorites on the menu. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with their flan or their house‑made hot cocoa. The flan is silky and rich, and the hot cocoa tastes like pure comfort in a cup. Both are must‑tries. If you’re looking for a place with great food, friendly service, and a consistently wonderful dining experience, Hugo’s is it.
Hugo’s, where do I start? I guess we’ll begin with some of the most outstanding takes on grilled octopus, seafood plates, and even tortilla soup I have had in Houston. I want to specifically highlight the grilled octopus - it is charred to perfection and has the perfect balance of crunch and tenderness in every bite. I think about it regularly. The flan can best be described as caramelized perfection topped with candied nuts and strawberry sauce. I could eat it everyday for the rest of my life. Bury me in Hugo’s Flan, please and thank you. The margaritas are shaken table side and are fresh and well balanced. Their other cocktails are fantastic as well. The attention to detail with every part of the restaurant, down to the plate ware, light fixtures, and atmosphere in general is superb. Kudos to the interior designer. The service is attentive, detail-oriented, incredibly professional, and friendly. They made a special occasion for my partner and I that much more wonderful, and went above and beyond to accommodate my gluten allergy. I would rate Hugo’s 11/10 if I could, but since we only have 5 stars on Google, we’ll go with that for now. Can’t wait to be back!
