Driving all the way from Dallas to Houston for Elhelmya! It’s my favorite place for comfort food(Koshary, Ox tail with stuffed grape leaves, Bessara, Béchamel Pasta, Fattah lamb shank, Molokheya & chicken, Pickled eggplant, and Stuffed Pigeon)! This place is amazing! Everything is incredibly delicious and authentic. I always eat half the menu at the restaurant and buy the other half to take back home to Dallas. We celebrated my daughter's birthday at Elhelmya Express food Truck , and the owner went above and beyond to ensure we had a blast! Highly Recommend! I can't even pick a favorite dish because the entire menu is amazing. You have to try it yourself!

One of the best Egyptian restaurants I’ve ever tried! 🇪🇬👏 The food is authentic and absolutely delicious—it tastes just like homemade. The portions are generous, the service is friendly and fast, and the restaurant is very clean. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Egyptian cuisine. I’ll definitely be coming back. Thank you for such a wonderful dining experience! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 We’ve already been here 3 times, and we actually drive all the way from Austin just to eat here. It’s always worth the trip! If you’re looking for authentic Egyptian cuisine, this is the place to go. We’ll definitely be back again!

Summary (2/5): Significantly overpriced for mediocre food. The restaurant has an identity crisis: its dishes are humble and satiate without overstuffing, but its prices are masquerading as gaudy and pretentious. I cannot recommend even going here to sample Egyptian food The restaurant has a hole in the wall aesthetic, put nicely. My wife and I saw two employees standing outside the restaurant as we entered the empty establishment. The two followed us inside and one directed us to access the online menu via a QR code. Orders, however, still needed to be placed with our waiter, which isn't an issue. We ordered the Koshary, which supposedly had two sizes but our waiter automatically assumed the bigger portion, an oxtail dish, baba ganoush, and dolmas. For drinks we had the mint lemonade and anise tea. The Koshary was mostly bland, save for the occasional flavor from the fried onion. Even da'a-the accompanying garlic vinegar-tasted diluted and fail to add much to the plate. Meanwhile, the oxtail was tender but it was slathered in an unremarkable tomato sauce. In addition, for $18, it only came with one piece of oxtail, which is egregiously expensive. Combined with $8 lemonade, I'm not sure who the target customer base is for this restaurant. I like trying the various cuisines and flavors that Houston has to offer. And even for simpler dishes like Koshary, I don't mind experiencing a different presentation of familiar ingredients. However, the presentation suggests comfort food for locals while the check mirrors a fine dining establishment. And just like the Koshary, that was difficult to swallow. Therefore, I will not be returning. Small note: they include a 15% service charge for all dine in orders, regardless of party size.

Food is absolutely delicious and I am glad to find an Egyptian restaurant in Houston area. From the outside, the restaurant does not seem like much but when you enter, it feels like you have entered a portal to north Africa. The food is delicious and authentic. The servers are kind and honest. We loved everything about the place! Must visit if you like Koshari.

It will take you on a journey to Egypt from the first step! 👌🏼 What's the heck, guys?! The best Egyptian restaurant ever! I swear I never had such authenticity in flavor or vibes in any other "Egyptian" place. Decoration is another thing to highlight as it puts you in the core heritage of Egypt. Bravo Yasmine and the whole friendly staff for creating a mini Egypt! 👏🏼 If you are or visit Houston, never miss going there and enjoy every plate they serve. They make their food fresh, and nothing stays overnight. Recommend plates: Mombar Koshary with beef liver Molokheya & Chicken Cow Trotter with dolmas Bessara Pasta Bachmel Chicken breaded fillet Om Ali dessert 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
