First of all, I wanna say that I do normally visit these type of places, but my sister-in-law who stays in Houston recommended me to go here and when I looked at the food online, I said I gotta try it. I was surprised at where it was on the side of town it was, but I wasn’t worried as you shouldn’t be either because this place has some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life I opted to get some chicken wings half garlic Parmesan half lemon pepper and they were the best lemon pepper I’ve ever had. I got collard greens and étouffée as my sides with and I repeat with a cup of red Kool-Aid. Yep, I said red they also had a bar which I got a double shot of tequila and I got a bottle of water. I ate everything it was that good I didn’t need any seasoning. I didn’t need any hot sauce. I didn’t need anything. They had a nice vibe going with the music. It’s very easy to order. They have a touchscreen menu that you can order from but the person that was working, there was very helpful in assisting me with explaining everything on the menu. Don’t take my word for it, though you’re gonna have to visit yourself, but you won’t be disappointed and they have a multitude of various options of food for you to get most people were getting their food to go. I’m assuming that they’re local people but even if you are visiting, I will still say go. It’s worth it 10 times.
The catfish was deliciously crunchy, as well as the fried orka. The pasta was like something I'd make at home. Good... but not gourmet. I didn't quite care for the Mac and cheese, but that's just me. No refillable fountain drinks, but I get it. Enjoyed most of the music, but a tad bit too R. Kelly heavy. I hate that they only had high chairs, which is hard on my circulation. Bottom line... I will return.
I went on a day it wasn’t packed. I ordered the catfish with two sides it came out to $22.95. For additional sides they range from $7-13 depending on size. Their drinks range from $6-13.00 depending on the size, mixed drinks are offered as well. I ordered the catfish with a side of Mac and cheese and okra. The Mac and cheese was creamy, the okra was perfectly cooked. The catfish batter was seasoned perfectly. The atmosphere was nice, it is a small area there’s roughly 6 tables and a bar where seating is provided as well. They do have a happy hour from 3-7pm on appetizers.
Bartender was quick and its a very cozy comfortable restaurant to my suprised the Sun Rises, not to bad lol. Okay Ya'll should check them out its not just blahhh blah online the food is really good. I had the 3 meat paste and mozzarella sticks 😋 the only thing I would change was the tails on the shrimps was off. Because it slows customers down from really digging in there. Keep up the great job and most definitely "BLACK OWN" ohh yeah the 90s 🎶 🎵 is a +
This is one of the best restaurants in Houston. A true hidden gem! Excellent customer service, great food & drinks. Aliyah was a beast on the strawberry lemon drop! Hands down! Come out and support this black owned business!
