First, let me the place shocked me when I got inside compared to the outside. The perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover. The atmosphere was spacious and clean and I love the setup of the food. The service provided by the staff was a smiles and very welcoming. The price for the value was on point. Last but least, the food was very soulful and delicious. Since, I've been in Texas for these 2 yrs, Mikki's has the best soulful I've tasted thus far. Great job and thank you for awesome southern hospitality Mikki's. ❤️

I looked up popular soul food restaurants in Houston, and Mikki’s came highly recommended. The moment I walked in, it had the nostalgic feel of an old-school soul food café. I was excited to see chitlins on the menu, along with fried catfish and fried chicken made fresh to order. I decided to try the chitlins, but unfortunately, they did not sit well with me, and I ended up throwing most of them away. Now, it could have been because I wasn’t feeling my best, but I have always been told: Never buy chitlins when you don’t know who cleaned them—and this experience reminded me why! Aside from the chitlins, everything else was good. I had the red Kool-Aid, and it was super sweet—just like you would expect from a true soul food spot. Fish was hot and fresh. Fried hard.... just the way I like it. Everyone was also very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend Mikki's but personally, I would skip the chitlins. If I’m ever back in Houston, though, I may give them one more chance.

My experience at Mikki’s was outstanding! The food was absolutely delectable. I ordered the beef tips, and not only were they flavorful and cooked perfectly, but the portion size was generous and well worth it. What made the experience even more memorable was the exceptional customer service. In today’s world, where great customer service can sometimes feel like a lost art, it was refreshing to be welcomed and treated with genuine care and professionalism. Thank you to the entire team for providing such a wonderful dining experience. I will definitely be back and highly recommend Mikki’s to anyone looking for great food and outstanding service!

This food was absolutely AMAZING! 😭🔥 My stomach is hurting because I ate GOOD! 😂 I had the candied yams, fish Alfredo over rice, and the green beans, and OMG!!! Everything was DELICIOUS! I’ve been coming to Mickey’s since I was 8 years old, and I’m 38 now—that’s 30 years of amazing food and amazing memories! ❤️ The taste and quality are still just as good as the very first time I tried it. Thank you so much to the entire staff for everything you did for us. Y’all did an AMAZING job! I truly appreciate the food, the service, and the love you put into what you do. 🥰❤️ 30 years later, and Mickey’s is STILL THAT GIRL! 👏🏽🔥

After 3+ years in Houston searching for soul food that reminds me of Atlanta, I finally found a solid spot at Mikki's Soul Food Cafe. I’ve been twice and ordered the meatloaf dinner both times. The meatloaf is well-seasoned, tender, and covered in a rich gravy that pairs perfectly with the fluffy rice. Portions are BIG, so while prices ($19.95–$23.95) seem a little high at first, it’s definitely worth it. First visit was excellent—especially the green beans (flavorful with bacon and onions). Second visit, the green beans had too many potatoes and not enough beans, and the mac and cheese was just too heavy for my taste. My main issue is the to-go packaging. The gravy is very liquidy and spilled into the bag during transport, making the container messy by the time I got back to work. A separate sealed container for the gravy would fix this easily. Overall, this is one of the best soul food spots I’ve found in Houston. I’ll definitely be back—and I’m bringing my mom next time.
