I was craving some street tacos and tio trompo definitely satisfied the craving! The place is unassuming and no frills. The tables are picnic style and the parking lot is smaller but there were plenty of spots on a Saturday evening. They had combo deals of 2, 3, or 4 tacos combined with beans and rice. The tacos are generous sized and have a good portion of meat, 2 tacos were more than enough with beans and rice. We tried the barbacoa tacos which were very flavorful and juicy (5/5). The salsas on top gave it the perfect zing. The pastor taco was also good and the meat was crispy, roasted on the spit. However, it lacked the typical pineapple flavor (4/5). The queso and chips were also tasty Overall we loved it and will be back!
The tacos are really good. I tried 6 different ones. The Barbacoa (slow cooked) was very juice and tender. The Fajita has the “wok hei” (aroma from high temperature stir fry), if you don’t mind the spicy grilled jalapeño. The Gringa blends very well with cheese and a slice of avocado. I had all tacos topped with diced onion and cilantro, as they are. Lime wedges and hot sauce came on the side. I usually add a few drops of lime squeeze on the taco meat to bring a fresh and sour taste.
The food was great! I loved the tacos al pastor. The customer service was a bit weird, and they could definitely improve that. The bathrooms were marked as out of order, but there was a sign saying you could still wash your hands. The bathroom actually seemed to be working fine. Lol 😂 The place could also be a little cleaner. The tables and kitchen should be cleaned constantly.
It is really clear when the people making tacos love what they do and know what they’re doing. And Tio Trompo is the best example of it. Phenomenal flavors, all-day breakfast tacos, fantastic salsas, and wonderful prices! This place is a GEM if you want excellent tacos.
The tacos are really big so a 2 or 3 taco platter should be enough. Get the trompo tacos for sure. They are absolutely delicious! The platter is a great bang for your buck!
