Velvet Taco did not disappoint! I tried the cauliflower tacos and the shrimp tacos, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were bold, fresh, and perfectly balanced. Every bite was packed with flavor, and I'd definitely order both again. The only small disappointment was the guacamole—it wasn't filled to the top of the containers and could have used a little more salt. Other than that, it was a fantastic meal, and I'll definitely be back to try more tacos!
This was my first time ever at velvet i had the best experience! I ordered 3 tacos - chicken and waffle 11/10, steak and mushroom 10/10, and steak chimichurri (good but spicy for me). I also tried the guac 10/10 and the coconut curry queso 10/10. Everything was so amazing. Our server Jasmine let me try the queso before committing. And when I told her my birthday was tomorrow she brought me a free piece of cake. They also gave me fresh chips for the rest of my queso as I was leaving. The store manager April was so nice and is doing an excellent job. The food was fresh, the tacos were stuffed, atmosphere am service great. A must come.
Velvet Taco near Montrose Collective is a great spot for a quick, casual bite with a twist. The tacos are creative and not your typical Tex-Mex—more fusion-style with bold, unexpected flavors. I tried a combo with two tacos, a drink, and a side, and the portions were just right for a light meal. Everything came out fresh and fast, which makes it perfect for a casual stop after shopping. The vibe is relaxed and a bit trendy, with a good mix of locals. Not the cheapest tacos, but the quality and variety make it worth it.
We went to try this place out. Seemed like a really nice place came in. Carlos was awesome. Very nice. Helped us out with everything we needed. Will be putting this on our list. Next time we go to Houston.
Velvet Taco is hands down one of my favorites. This was literally my first stop after landing in Houston, and it never misses. The Chicken & Waffle taco is an absolute must-order. I also tried the Spicy Tikka, Korean Fried Rice, and Mexicali Shrimp—everything hit, but the Spicy Tikka and Chicken & Waffle definitely stole the show. The service is super friendly, and the queso was delicious—easily our favorite side. Highly recommend the combo (2 tacos, chips, a side, and a fountain drink for $15). Such a good deal. The location itself is great—super cute inside, with both indoor and outdoor seating, plus a little rooftop area. Great food and great vibes. Can’t ask for more. I’ve been to this and other locations before, and when they have the Shrimp & Grits taco, GET IT—it’s insane. Everything here hits, I swear. Can’t wait to go back for more!
