If you've ever wondered about the marriage of Vietnamese and French cuisines, you owe yourself a visit to Le Colonial. The food is imaginative and delicious! We've visited several times and can't seem to stop ordering the dumplings every time (fantastic). I love many things about the LC menu, especially how many delicious soups and salads they offer. This is also the rare and wonderful restaurant that elevates chicken dishes instead of treating poultry like a necessary menu evil. The portions are generous, even at lunchtime, so sharing is a smart strategy. As a non-drinker, I appreciate the zero proof options, and my husband is very impressed with the wine list. I'm sad the fabulous Valrona chocolate cake is being sunsetted, but the dessert menu is still full of temptation. We can't wait for patio dining if and when the weather cools. High marks, Le Colonial!

We came in for the restaurant week menu, and it was awesome! For our first course, we got the pork and shrimp rolls, chicken dumplings, and tuna tartare. The rolls were crunchy and soooo good, the dumplings were my fav, being delicious, and the tartare was also great! For entree, we got the shaking beef, green curry, salmon, fried rice, and garlic noodles (from regular menu), and the beef and noodles were our absolute favorite, definitely worth the 10 dollars supplement. For dessert, we got one of each, and they were all pretty good, but the creme brûlée was the best. Service was fine, atmosphere was pretty, and overall, a wonderful experience.

All I can say is wow! Jasmine and Victor were THE best hosts I’ve had at a Houston restaurant. Not only did they seat us right away, but they made us feel so welcome during the entire experience. Jasmine and Victor sat us in the most romantic area and were so attentive to our dietary preferences, allergies, and questions. They went through the entirety of the menu and recommended their favorites from it. We ordered the chicken dumplings, tofu curry, and spicy stir fry chicken, which were all seasoned perfectly and 10/10. Jasmine was so kind and spoke to us as if we’ve known her for years. We will definitely be coming back because of those two, the wonderful service, and food!

This place has a really beautiful vibe the patio is easily the highlight. It's lush, relaxing, and feels like a perfect spot for a nice lunch or a casual date. I came for lunch and ordered the garlic noodles with medium rare beef and the chicken dumplings. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite match the setting. The dumplings were a bit overcooked the wrapper was falling apart and the filling had a slightly rubbery texture. The beef itself was good, but the garlic noodles were just okay and didn't really stand out, especially for the price. Service was also on the slower side and a bit inattentive not sure if it was because I was alone? This added to the overall experience. I'd definitely come back for the ambiance alone because the space is gorgeous, but I'm not sure I'd return specifically for the food.

The best part of this restaurant was definitely the dessert — honestly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. The sweetness level was perfect, not too much and not too little. The biggest disappointment was the duck. I expected it to be flavorful and properly prepared without that strong duck smell, but it tasted really bad to me. The meat itself was okay, but definitely not impressive. The shrimp was decent and the alcohol was fine too. The waitress was friendly, chill, and easy to talk to. The atmosphere was okay overall, but considering the prices, I really don’t think the experience was worth the money.
